Most of what goes in a handbag needs a small container rather than a proper travel case. That is what this page collects: printed toiletry bags and cotton pouches, flat or gusseted, in sizes that sit between 20 × 14 cm and 30 × 16 cm. The print is the easy part. Size and closure are what decide whether you actually reach for it.
There are 17 products.
A pouch that lives in a handbag only has to do two things: keep a lipstick, a mascara and a hand cream together, and stop a badly closed tube from ruining the lining. Everything on this page is built for that rather than for a fortnight abroad.
The animals come first, and they are unapologetically playful: cats, unicorns, a bee, a pink flamingo, a pair of bears in scarves. Then the florals, mostly printed cotton in Liberty-style patterns, blue and pink and green together. Last come the word prints, laid across the fabric in one big line, from « Mom I love you » to « J'adore ». Pink, blue and red dominate; a few black or pastel pieces are there for anyone who wants the print to stay quiet.
Product pages name the closure every time, and that closure changes how a piece behaves far more than its pattern does.
| Closure | Format | Size given | Fabric named |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zip with a matching tassel | Flat pouch | 20 × 14 cm, sometimes 22 × 15 cm | Printed cotton |
| Zip along the top edge | Flat case | 30 × 16 cm | Canvas or synthetic |
| Zip with a wrist strap | Gusseted case | 22 × 13.5 × 6.5 cm | Polyester |
It is not really for carrying. It is for pulling the case out of a full bag with one hand, without lifting everything else out first. It sounds like a small thing on paper, and it turns out to be useful every single morning.
The flat pouch is the only one that disappears against a lining without making a bulge, so it is the answer for a small bag. The 30 × 16 cm case needs a day bag or a tote, though it lies flat on a narrow shelf, which counts for a lot in a cramped bathroom. The gusseted one stands up on its own and shows you the contents at a glance, in exchange for a few centimetres of depth.
Wash printed cotton by hand in warm soapy water and blot a mark rather than scrubbing the print. Dry it flat, out of the sun: that is what stops whites yellowing and bright colours fading. Canvas and polyester only need a damp cloth, provided you empty the case now and then and wipe the bottom.
A pouch rarely stays on its own for long. Sooner or later a small mirror that fits in the same bag ends up sharing the space.
The wider range, from scarves to hair accessories, is easiest to browse on the women's accessories page.
