Our leather goods for women cover bags, purses and clip-on straps, and not all of them are leather: cork, straw, canvas, printed nylon and faux leather all appear here. So check the composition on the product page before you assume it is hide. What they all share is a job to do.

Where to find bags, purses and straps

  • Bags

Our women's bags department brings together the shapes you reach for every day and the ones you pack for summer: handbags, crossbody styles, backpacks, totes, weekenders, bum…

  • Small leather goods

Small leather goods cover everything that travels inside the bag rather than the bag itself: wallets that hold notes, cards and paperwork together, coin purses kept for change…

  • Fabric shoulder strap

A fabric shoulder strap clips onto the rings of a handbag you already own and changes how it looks in a matter of seconds, without buying another bag. The selection covers…

  • By brand

Our bag lines sit side by side here, each with its own signature: plain colours closed with a gold clasp, printed cork, linen woven with lurex, illustrated canvas full of colour,…

Our pick of bags, purses and straps

Choosing for the day you actually have

A bag rarely disappoints on looks. It disappoints on the occasion it has to survive: the crowded train, the folder that will not lie flat, the two nights away, the beach where sand gets into everything. Work back from that and the list narrows fast. The table below is the short answer we would give someone standing in front of the range with no idea where to start.

Bag type by occasion
The occasionWhat to look for
CommutingHands-free carrying, and a strap long enough to wear over a winter coat.
A day at the deskRoom for a folder without the bag losing its shape.
Evening outSmall enough to keep on your lap, with a fastening you trust.
Two nights awaySpace for a change of clothes, in a bag you can carry by hand or over the shoulder.
Holiday and beachWoven straw or cork: light, and easy to shake out afterwards.
Errands and marketAn open top you can fill standing up, one arm already full.

How this leather goods range is split

Four groups, and they do not overlap. The bag shapes come first, sorted by how they are carried rather than by material. Then come the pieces that live inside the bag, and the straps that clip onto a bag you already own. A fourth group sorts accessories by label, for anyone matching prints across two pieces.

Purses, wallets and card holders

A good bag stops being good when everything floats around at the bottom. A purse, a wallet or a card holder holds it all in place, and a soft pouch keeps the things that scratch away from the things that get scratched. Count your cards first: the number of slots you actually fill decides the format far more reliably than the stated size.

A new strap costs less than a new bag

A wide printed strap transforms a plain bag. It also rescues one that has gone soft and stretched at the shoulder. The thing to check before buying is the hardware: swapping the strap only works if the clips match the rings on your bag.

If you would like your bag and purse to match, our brand pages save you scrolling through the whole range twice.
