Our makeup sponge aisle brings together teardrop-shaped sponges, ideal for applying foundation, BB cream or concealer without leaving brush marks. The selection covers a colourful palette: water green, purple, sky blue, beige, light pink, fuchsia.
The teardrop sponge offers three application zones: the rounded base for large surfaces (cheeks, forehead), the tip for precise areas (under the eye, around the nose), the flat side for face contouring. This page sits inside our makeup aisle.

Our makeup sponge aisle gathers teardrop-shaped sponges for even application of foundation, BB cream and concealer. The teardrop shape combines two uses in one tool: the rounded base to blend on large areas (cheeks, forehead, jawline), the fine tip to reach narrow zones (nose wings, eye contour, cupid's bow). This tool effectively replaces brush and fingers for a seamless finish and natural blending, in the spirit of the iconic beauty sponges popularised by Beautyblender and Real Techniques.
The brush deposits product in visible streaks, fingers warm the product and leave an uneven layer. The dampened makeup sponge absorbs a touch of water and stipples instead of swiping: it picks up excess foundation and deposits just the right amount, leaving no edge. The result looks like healthy skin rather than a mask. The teardrop shape also lets you press under the eye to blend concealer without dragging the delicate skin in that area. For complementary makeup tools (compact mirror for on-the-go application), see also our pocket mirror aisle.
Four main steps in a makeup routine:
Three simple steps: preparation (dampen the sponge under water and squeeze until it doubles in volume without dripping), technique (stipple, never rub or swipe), and repetition (pass several times on more marked zones to blend gradually). A too-dry sponge absorbs too much product, a too-wet sponge dilutes the foundation.
Dispense 3-4 small dots of foundation on the back of the hand, pick up a small amount with the rounded base, stipple from the centre of the face outwards. Blend the jawline to avoid creating a visible edge. One sponge covers the whole face with half a pump to one pump of product depending on desired coverage.
Apply the concealer in an inverted triangle under the eye (base under the lash line, tip toward the cheek). Blend with the fine tip of the sponge in gentle presses, never rubbing. The result should melt into the foundation without a visible edge.
After foundation application, deposit the contour shade (hollow of cheeks, jawline contour) and highlighter (cheekbone tops, nose bridge). Blend with the dry sponge in stippling motions to avoid an overly visible shade. For preparing skin before makeup by pulling hair off the face, see also our makeup headband aisle.
Cleaning after each use matters to avoid bacterial buildup and preserve the sponge colours. Rinse with lukewarm water, gently massage with a mild soap or dedicated sponge cleanser, press to release water (don't twist), let air-dry on a sponge holder or clean cloth. Replace the sponge every 2-3 months with daily use (1-2 months for very full-coverage makeup). A sponge that smells off or tears must be replaced immediately. To complete your beauty kit with hand-care tools, see also our manicure set aisle.
For liquid or cream foundation and concealer: yes, the dampened sponge gives a more natural finish. For loose or pressed powder: no, use the sponge dry. The general rule: wet products on a wet sponge, dry products on a dry sponge.
2-3 months with daily use and regular cleaning after each use. Lifespan decreases if the sponge is poorly dried (residual moisture), poorly cleaned (product buildup), or subjected to repeated friction on dry skin (tears). A well-maintained sponge lasts the full duration.
Not recommended. The sponge absorbs part of the product, which wastes it and reduces efficacy. For skincare, clean fingers or a dedicated applicator are more economical. The sponge stays a makeup-only tool.
