A butterfly drawn like a small stained-glass panel: silver-tone outline, cobalt-blue rhinestone pavé on the upper wings, amethyst-violet pavé on the lower, and a border of cloisonné-style enamel sections in coral orange, plum, olive green and scarlet red. 5 x 4.5 cm, magnetic clasp, no pin. A statement butterfly in the colourful tradition of Butler & Wilson and the cathedral-window aesthetic of Tiffany Studios.
The brooch reads as a small enamel-and-rhinestone version of a stained-glass cathedral window. A silver-tone metal outline traces the butterfly silhouette and divides each wing into compartments, in the same way that a leaded panel divides coloured glass. The two upper-wing centres are paved with cobalt-blue crystal rhinestones, set so densely that the surface reads as a saturated blue field; the two lower-wing centres are paved with amethyst-violet rhinestones in the same technique. Around these pavé centres, the cloisonné-style enamel border runs through a stained-glass palette: coral orange, plum, deep purple, olive green, scarlet red. 5 x 4.5 cm, magnetic clasp, no pin.
British costume jewellery has a long-standing relationship with the colourful butterfly: Butler & Wilson built a recognisable signature around vibrant butterfly brooches, and Pinterest "butterfly brooch" boards still cluster around that aesthetic. This piece sits in that conversation but pushes the colour blocking further, with the cobalt-blue and amethyst pavé combined with the stained-glass enamel surround. It works equally well as a daytime statement on a denim jacket and as an evening anchor on a black blazer.
Three placements where the stained-glass palette delivers especially well: on the lapel of a black or charcoal blazer for evening, where the cobalt blue and amethyst pop against dark wool; high on the collar of an indigo denim jacket, where the blue pavé extends the denim tone and the warm enamel border (coral, scarlet) lifts it; pinned at the knot of a silk scarf in a single neutral colour (cream, sand, charcoal) to let the colour breathe. For more butterfly designs with the same magnetic system, see the butterfly brooches sub-collection; for the wider magnet-only edit, magnetic brooches; for all insect motifs, animal brooches.
The brooch is two pieces: a silver-tone front holding the entire design, and a small disc with two rare-earth magnets for the inside of the fabric. The two snap together through the textile, no pin. The pull handles fabrics up to about 4 mm thick, which covers silk crepe, cashmere knit, denim jacket, light wool coat. The brooch can be moved between garments in seconds without leaving a mark.
Zinc alloy body with silver-tone rhodium-finish plating. Crystal rhinestones in cobalt blue and amethyst violet, hand-set in cups and sealed. Cloisonné-style enamel in coral, plum, purple, olive green and scarlet red, sealed against dust and chipping. Store the brooch flat in a soft pouch away from other metallic jewellery, wipe with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid perfume, hairspray and chlorinated water.

Yes. The cobalt-and-amethyst centres are saturated enough to read as a statement, but the stained-glass enamel border keeps the overall palette graphic rather than fluorescent. Daytime placements that work especially well: denim jacket, indigo wool coat, neutral silk scarf with a single colour.
Hard knocks against metal surfaces (rings, watches, keys) can chip the enamel edges over time, as with any enamelled jewellery. To extend the life of the finish, store the brooch in its own soft pouch and avoid heavy handling. Everyday wear on fabric does not cause chipping.
As with any magnetic accessory, we advise customers with a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or insulin pump to keep the brooch at least 15 cm from the device and to check with their physician before regular use.
