Sitting cats, tails curled upright, are printed all over a white ground. Compare any two and the fillings differ: close-set dots on one, tiny flowers on the next, a flat block of colour on a third. That is where the patchwork idea comes from.
At 100 x 180 cm, there is enough length to wrap the scarf twice and still have ends to knot, or simply to let it hang open down the front.
More than anything else, length decides how a scarf behaves. 100 x 180 cm is long enough to take a full turn round the neck, come back to the front and still leave two ends hanging, which is how it is worn in the photograph. Unwind it and the same scarf opens out wide enough to sit across the shoulders of a coat, or folds down into a narrow headband.
The drawing repeats a single posture, but never a single pattern. Every animal is shown side-on, upright, tail lifted, and each outline is filled differently: dotted, floral, plain, or scattered with pale specks. Because the white ground is left clear between them, the eye reads each cat separately instead of blurring them into a single texture. The slight creasing visible in the photograph is simply because the scarf was knotted before it was photographed.
The print never settles on a single shade. A range running from turquoise to navy, with a strong royal blue doing most of the work in between, gives the pattern its depth without bringing in a second colour. Nothing on the scarf steps outside blue and white.

Blue on white sits comfortably with denim, with a camel coat, with anything in charcoal or cream. Against black, the outlines sharpen and the cats stand out from further away. If a printed scarf is what you are after rather than a plain one, take a look through the rest of our scarves.
Scarves sit alongside belts, gloves and hair accessories, so it is worth browsing the wider accessories range before you settle on one.
