Reading the dial against the print
On a busy print the dial stays quiet, white or brushed grey, and lets the textile speak. When the pattern is softer the dial takes over instead, in mustard or mauve, and the two colours answer each other. Several pieces add a crystal-set bezel around the face; others leave the surround bare. If you would rather have a band that asks nothing of you at all, our watches on a silicone strap are a different proposition altogether.
How the strap fastens
Two fastenings sit side by side here. One is the ordinary buckle, set once and forgotten. The other is a ribbon you tie yourself, which lands exactly where you want it and suits a narrow wrist as readily as a broad one. The trade-off is a knot to retie each morning, and that is a real cost rather than a detail.
Living with a textile band
A textile band does not behave like leather or steel. Keep it away from long spells in water, take the watch off before a shower, a swim or the washing-up, and let hand cream and perfume dry before you put it back on. A mark is best blotted with a damp cloth and a trace of mild soap rather than soaked out. The case itself wipes clean like any metal piece. Will the print fade?
The printed face holds its colour well. It is the underside, against the skin, that darkens first with wear. Wiping it now and then does more for the band than a full wash, which it is not built to take.
Can the strap be swapped for another?
