The print sticks to the classic leopard palette: a beige ground, warm camel patches and irregular black markings that stretch and thin as the oval curves. The centre is cut away, so those markings follow a narrow rim instead of filling a solid shape. They do not fall in the same places on the two earrings.

Each earring is a slim oval suspended from a curved gold-tone fitting. Seen head-on, it reads as one continuous line rather than a solid plate. The drop measures 8.5 cm from the top of the fitting to the lowest point of the oval. Nothing else sits on the shape besides the print.

A small rounded piece links the oval to the lobe. It sets a strip of warm colour above the print, so the black markings do not begin right at the ear.

One print at a time

A plain knit, a white shirt or a camel jacket leaves them to do the work on their own. If you want the print to carry through the rest of an outfit, look at the same markings on scarves, headbands and sunglasses rather than repeating it around the face.

Length is the other thing to weigh up. The wider range of shapes that hang below the lobe includes far shorter models if 8.5 cm feels like a lot for a working day.

Putting them on last

Put them on once hair and make-up are done, and take them off first in the evening. Brushes, sprays and collars are where most of the contact happens, and that one change keeps the printed surface clear of all three.
