What a 90x180 cm rectangle lets you do

Size is the practical part here. At 90x180 cm it is long enough for a double loop with both ends still hanging free, and wide enough to cover the shoulders in a single layer. The cloth is 100% viscose: it falls straight, its creases drop out quickly, and it ties without bulking at the knot. Both short ends are finished with a short unhemmed fringe, so there is no rolled hem adding weight where the scarf hangs. The rest of the printed scarves sit with the squares and the four-corner styles.

Wearing an abstract purple scarf without the bulk

A long rectangle behaves differently from a square. Wound twice round the neck, this one sits flat under a coat collar instead of forcing it open, because the viscose carries no body of its own. Leave it open across the shoulders and it reads as a stole rather than a scarf. A third option: knot it off-centre, one corner forward, and the vertical line of a straight-cut jacket breaks up. If you would rather not tighten the knot at all, pin it with a brooch and leave the drape loose.

Petal bursts in white, lilac and gold

Look closely and each motif is a burst: petals fanning out from a single core, packed tight at the centre and opening as they reach the rim. Three colours sit against a deep, almost indigo purple: a clean white, a pink-toned lilac and a matt gold that picks up the light whenever the fabric moves. Each burst sits at its own angle, so the repeat never settles into a grid.

Keeping the gold sharp after washing

Viscose dislikes hot water and a hard spin; the fibres tighten and the drape goes with them. Wash at 30 °C, by hand or on a gentle cycle, then dry it flat and out of direct sun. That is what stops the gold from going dull against the purple.
