Our flower headband for women department gathers models adorned with fabric flowers, silk, lace or preserved dried flowers, a romantic accessory ideal for ceremonies, weddings, summer festivals and bohemian everyday outfits. The flower headband is one of the most versatile hair accessories: it transforms a simple hairstyle into a romantic silhouette, structures long or medium hair, and adds a recognisable spring touch.
In the United Kingdom, the flower headband is closely linked to the heritage of wedding millinery and to the season of summer race meetings. Royal Ascot, Henley Regatta and the Goodwood Festival have made the floral headpiece a fixture of the Royal Enclosure and the lawn, alongside the traditional fascinator. The Kate Middleton effect (frequent appearances at Wimbledon and at garden parties wearing botanical headpieces) has popularised the floral headband from 2011 onwards, an influence relayed by Hello!, Tatler and Brides UK. Specialist players (Fascinators Direct in Manchester, Monsoon for flower girls, Bracken & Fleur in Cornwall for custom dried flower crowns) have consolidated this niche, with the contemporary trend strongly favouring preserved dried flowers (durable, sustainable, photographs beautifully) over fresh flowers that wilt within hours.
Our selection covers several registers: fabric flower headband (the most accessible, satin or organza flowers in romantic pastel or vivid palettes), dried flower headband (contemporary sustainable trend), lace floral headband (romantic vintage register) and single statement flower headband (a sculptural focal piece, crown style with raised relief). For wider, more everyday fabric headbands without flowers (for the professional day), see our fabric headband. For a complete family of hair accessories, see our parent department headband.
The flower headband suits many British contexts particularly well: wedding (bride, bridesmaid, country wedding guest), hen party (crown for the bride-to-be), baby shower, christening or First Communion, summer festival (Glastonbury, Latitude, Wilderness, End of the Road), photo shoot (maternity, family, engagement), garden party or afternoon tea, Royal Ascot or Henley (Ladies Day in the Royal Enclosure), Halloween (black flower crown for a fairy costume). For more discreet floral hair clips as a complement, see our hair clips department.
Adaptation to hair length: long loose hair (classic placement 2 cm behind the hairline, flowers to the left or right depending on the parting), long wavy hair (perfect boho effect, ideal for a country wedding), low bun (the headband emphasises the chignon and enriches it), side braid (the headband extends the braid alongside the face), short hair lob style (the headband structures the cut). Photo tip: for wedding or Ascot shoots, place the headband on the left side for couple shots (profile view favouring the photographer). For complementary clipped styles, see our hair clips.
Fabric and dried flower headbands require specific care. Dried flowers: avoid water absolutely (humidity rehydrates and deforms preserved flowers), moderate light exposure (prolonged direct light can alter the colours of preserved flowers over several years). Store in an individual rigid box (dried flowers are fragile and break on rubbing). Fabric flowers: dry cleaning only with a soft cloth, do not wash. Very light ironing with a cold iron if creased. Flat storage in an individual pouch. For winter fleece headband alternatives, see our winter headband department.
With appropriate care (no water, moderate light, individual storage), preserved dried flowers keep their colours and shape for an average of 2 to 5 years. Flowers preserved by professional technique (immersion in a glycerine and food colouring solution) last longer than flowers simply air-dried. Our selection specifies the preservation technique used by model.
Yes except for very thick or curly hair which may require an elastic model rather than a rigid hoop. For fine hair, prefer a model with light flowers to avoid pulling. For medium to long hair, all models suit. For short hair, prioritise narrow headbands with small flowers.
An excellent gift for: bride-to-be (hen party preparation crown), bridesmaid, photographer friend or model, summer festival fan, young girl for a ceremony (Communion, child bridesmaid). Prefer preserved dried flowers for a lasting gift, or fabric flowers for a more accessible gift. Include an explanatory card for dried flower models (specific care).
