The window on the right flap, notch and rivet included

Plenty of small wallets put the identity card somewhere awkward. Here it faces you as soon as the wallet opens, behind a clear window bordered in beige on the right-hand flap. The notch cut into that border is the useful part: a card pushed all the way in can still be nudged out with a thumb. Above it, a small silver rivet finishes the frame.

You notice a detail like that at a gate, a counter or a reception desk, rather than on a shelf.

Colours you can still pick out at the bottom of a bag

The print works on a contrast of scale. One rosette is far too large for the panel and carries on past the edge; the others stay small enough to read as texture. Plum holds the middle, coral lights the petal tips, ochre and a deep blue-green come in patches, and the pale grain of the cork shows through wherever the ink thins out.

Against a plain bag the whole thing reads as one warm block of colour rather than a busy pattern. It sits comfortably with denim, camel and off-white knits.

Compact cork wallet: what sits on each of the three panels

Folded, the compact cork wallet is a three-panel design. The left flap carries two slanted slots. The middle panel stacks three horizontal ones, which makes five card slots in all, and behind them runs a flat pocket wide enough for notes folded once. The right flap holds the window. Change keeps a pocket of its own on a metal frame, so coins never travel loose against the cards. For something roomier, the shop lists wallets built for a fuller set of cards.

Stitching along the edges

Thread matched to the lining runs right around the panels and along the folds, where the printed cork meets its sand-coloured backing. On the top band the print stops altogether: a pale woven texture takes over and carries the clasp.

The measurement given for this model is 11x9cm, closed. The clasp itself is a pair of tapered silver arms that meet in the middle on a straight frame. If loose coins are what you carry most, purses that carry change and nothing else are grouped separately.
