    Two panels share the front of this companion wallet. The upper one is pale pink and covered in drawings: an orange S and a turquoise C worked in raised embroidery, a citrus slice in coral thread, blue spirals, fine-line foliage, a cat drawn in outline and a tiny camera. The lower band is denim blue, and that same blue runs across the whole back.

    At 18.5x9.5x2.5 cm it keeps notes, cards and coins in one flat case that slips into a handbag. A tab comes over from the back and closes on a silver-toned press stud. Open it and the camel lining feels smooth under the thumb, next to the grainier outer surface.

    A press-stud companion wallet in blue jean

    The closing tab starts on the back, folds over the top edge and clicks shut on the front. Nothing sticks out once it is fastened, so the wallet stays flat in a bag rather than wedging itself against everything else. It is the long companion shape, wide enough to take a banknote without folding it, and it opens out flat, both sides at once.

    A plain denim back

    Turn it over and the pattern disappears. The back is a single, unbroken denim blue, with only the closing tab and its stud breaking the surface. That plainness is useful: the wallet stays discreet face down, and shows its drawings only when you pick it up.

    Card slots, an ID window and a zipped coin pocket

    Inside, camel dominates, with rows of card slots picked out in brown and taupe. A flap in the centre carries a clear window for the card you reach for most, and behind it sits a lining printed with a repeated monogram, still in the blue family. A zipped pocket runs the full length of the wallet for coins, and its flat metal pull is easy to catch with one hand.
