A red patchwork handbag with two ways to carry it

Two flat handles are riveted on and meet under a bright metal bridge, which leaves them high enough to take on the arm. The strap is a separate part rather than a fixture: it clips onto the dark side rings and shortens on a buckle, and unclipping it leaves nothing hanging. Loaded for the day, this one belongs with the bags meant to stay out from morning to evening rather than with something you carry for one evening.

A second pocket on the plain back

Nothing is pieced together on the back panel. It takes a horizontal zip across the width instead, near enough to the top to reach a phone or a card without opening the main compartment. That compartment has its own zip, edge to edge, and the lining inside is printed with a small geometric motif repeated all over. Fitting-out comes to one zipped pocket on the lining and no divider beside it.

The band along the top is a woven red cloth run across the full width. Below it the layout breaks up: a flecked tweed triangle at the bottom left with its point aimed at the middle, and a plain red panel cut on the diagonal beside it. Down the right edge, a woven column stacks diamonds and chevrons in ivory, ochre and black from top to bottom, and the plain panel keeps the two apart.

Threads, not print, on the top band

The red band at the top is not flat colour. Black threads cross it in a regular grid, fine enough that from a few steps away the whole band passes for plain red. The front zip runs on the same slant as the panel it crosses, coming down from the right edge, so the long pull ends up on the right-hand side of the bag rather than at the top.

Where this one actually works

Red at this strength carries a look on its own and leaves little for the rest to do. Plain clothes suit it better than a second print, since the diamond column already supplies all the pattern needed. The same label also makes models with no fabric panels on them at all.
