The zip that runs the whole width

The zip is easy to miss on a first look. It spans the entire front, sitting on a camel tape that almost disappears against the surrounding synthetic. The flap folds over it rather than fastening to it, so lifting the flap already puts your hand on the slider. That keeps the front line unbroken, with no clasp or buckle sitting on top of it. Other short-handled shapes sit together in the shelf of bags carried in the hand.

The knotted pull

A narrow strip of camel synthetic is threaded through the slider and knotted, leaving a tail that hangs a third of the way down the plaid. It swings a little as you walk, the one moving detail on an otherwise still front. Ecru topstitching follows the gusset edge just behind it.

The two side rings, the snap hooks on the detachable shoulder strap and the pin buckle that adjusts it are all finished in a deep grey metal, and against the warm camel they read as restraint rather than decoration. The same logic runs through the leather goods shelf and its smaller pieces.
