Clip the second strap on and this linen bucket bag changes job

Start with the flat camel shoulder strap. It is riveted onto gold rings at each side, sits high enough to clear a coat collar and lets the bag hang against the hip. One of the images shows a longer camel strap laid out beneath the bag: a second strap that clips on, with gold hooks and a sliding buckle, ready for a school run or a crowded train, when both hands are needed. Gold rings, rivets and a tab that closes flat

The closure is deliberately understated. A camel tab drops a few centimetres from the top edge and settles under a small rectangular gold plate, flush enough that no loop or buckle can catch on a sleeve. The same warm gold appears on the side rings and on the domed rivets that hold them, which is why the fittings read as one matched set of hardware rather than a mix of finishes picked up along the way.

Woven ecru at the front, plain camel everywhere else

The front panel is a coarse ecru weave with a visible grain, crossed low down by a camel band that lifts slightly towards one side. Everything behind it is different: the back, the side panels and the base carry no weave at all, only smooth camel. Seen from the front the bag looks pale and quiet; from the back it reads as a warm brown bag altogether. That double reading is the point of the design. The back panel does the practical work

The panel is zipped the full width of the back, tone on tone, with a small tab on the pull so a travel card or a phone can come out without looking. Underneath, four domed gold studs raise the base off the table, which is what keeps a pale bag away from wet café tables and station floors.

Where the marks show first

Marks land on the lower corners and along the camel band long before anywhere else, simply because those areas meet coats, desks and car seats every day. Wipe along the direction of the weave with a barely damp cloth, and do it before dust has time to settle into the grain. Stored upright rather than folded under heavier bags, it holds its shape far longer.
