Large grey numerals and three small sub-dials

The hour numerals are spread around the outer edge of the white face, in light grey and set well apart. Three small sub-dials sit in the middle, tucked under the ERNEST name. Nothing else competes for room, and that is what keeps it easy to read.

A second scale numbered in tens on the pink bezel

The ring around the face carries a scale of its own, numbered in tens up to 60. It borrows the pink of the strap and stops the front of the watch from looking flat.

A 39 mm case, a crown and two pushers

The case comes in at 39 mm across, wide enough for the numerals to have room around the edge. The crown and two pushers sit together on the right-hand side, in the same silver-coloured metal. Built from short segments, the strap bends with the wrist, and its fittings pick up the same metal.

Soft pink with denim, grey and off-white

Soft pink is a quiet shade here, and there is very little it clashes with. It sits happily against navy or camel. The white face keeps the whole thing from reading as one block of colour.

Washing the pink strap under a little lukewarm water lifts most marks off it. The case wants the opposite: a soft dry cloth, and no trip under the tap.
