Reading the dial from across the room

The numerals run right around the white dial in a light grey, printed large enough to be read across a room. Three sub-dials sit in the middle, just under the ERNEST name, and slim silver-coloured hands pass over them. On the right-hand side, a crown and two pushers break up the edge of the case.

A bezel marked from 10 to 60

The salmon ring around the dial carries its own scale, running to 60 in tens, the figures picked out in a paler tone. That ring is the second surface to take the colour, the strap holds the rest of it, and the white face stays clear of them both.

A salmon silicone strap on a 39 mm case

The 39 mm metal case is wide enough to be noticed without swamping the wrist. Rather than being cut from one piece, the strap is built in blocks that flex at each joint, and its metal fittings pick up the finish of the case.

Where salmon sits in a wardrobe

A soft cloth for the strap, perfume kept off the dial

Wipe the strap with a soft cloth, working along the gaps between the blocks, where dust gathers first. Spray perfume and hairspray before putting the watch on, not after. Left flat rather than coiled tight, the silicone holds its shape better between wears.
