Because the strap is taupe rather than black, this ERNEST watch stays quiet next to whatever else you are wearing. The white dial carries large grey numerals, the metal case measures 39 mm, and a spare battery comes with it.
The case is round and measures 39 mm across. Silver-tone metal runs around the dial and reappears in the links that break up the strap, so the taupe never covers the whole wrist.
A taupe insert rings the bezel and carries figures of its own, marked from 10 to 60. Inside it, three sub-dials cross the middle of the face and the ERNEST name is printed near the top. A crown and two pushers line up along the right-hand side.
Taupe falls between grey and beige, which is why it holds its own against those colours without competing with any of them. If you would rather have a pattern on the wrist, the range also runs to watches built on fabric straps.
Watches finished in faux leather sit at the dressier end of the same shelf, if the silicone feels too casual for the evening.
