A flat shoulder bag that measures 27 cm across

The band that splits the front

The canvas is charcoal grey and carries small CR letters printed in staggered rows, close together and even. Down the middle of the front a smooth black panel drops from a pointed tab and runs to the bottom edge. Over it sits a woven band in ivory, edged with brick red. Why each corner ring takes two hooks

A black tab at each top corner ends in a gold ring, and that single ring holds two lobster hooks at once. One carries the short flat strap. Its 20 cm drop clears a shoulder in a shirt and stops short of a shoulder in a winter coat. The other carries the long thin strap that takes the bag across the chest. Both unclip in a second, and neither has a slider or a buckle, so the length stays as it comes. The same arrangement turns up on the bags whose straps clip on and off.

Reaching a card without opening the bag

Nothing of the front carries over to the back. The printed canvas runs on uninterrupted except for a zipped pocket running almost the full width, set just below the top edge, its gold teardrop pull lying flat once the pocket is closed. A travel card or a folded receipt lives there, which means the main zip along the top can stay shut in a queue.

The woven band will show wear before the canvas does

Ivory sits at the centre of that band, and it is the part of the bag a coat sleeve brushes every day. Wipe it along the weave rather than across it, and leave the gold hooks dry. Underneath, the canvas simply continues onto a rounded base with no metal studs at the corners, which is why it never sits quite level on an uneven counter.
