Why choose a camel canvas bag with a printed star?

Because the star does the talking. It spreads across almost the whole front panel in a deliberately worn black, thin enough in places for the weave to show through. From a few metres away, that is the only thing anyone reads, which makes this bag the single graphic element of an outfit rather than one accessory among several. The rest of the panel is left plain.

What fits inside 42 x 39 cm

Forty-two centimetres across is wide enough for an A4 folder to lie flat, unfolded, with room to spare on either side for what a day out of the house adds. The bag opens from the top, with no flap to lift first, so reaching in takes one hand. Twin handles or the clip-off strap

The two handles are cut from the same canvas as the body and held at the top by round metal eyelets. They sit high enough on the shoulder to keep the bag off the hip, and they do not dig in when it is full. The strap is separate: it hangs from a metal snap hook and comes away completely, so the bag reads as a plain shoulder bag one moment and sits across the body the next.

A washed camel canvas, seen up close

Up close, the surface is coarse rather than smooth, with the weave visible across the whole panel. Fabric like this absorbs light instead of bouncing it back, so the camel looks paler outdoors and deepens against a light wall. There is no frame inside the bag. It takes the shape of whatever goes in, folds flat when empty, leans over on its side if you stand it on the floor, and slides under a seat or into a case without a fight.

The round Prodotto Vintage 1978 stamp

A circle of printed letters runs around the star: Prodotto at the upper left, Italia on the right, Stella along the bottom, and 1978 tucked between two small stars in the middle. The ink is the same faded black as the star, breaking up in the same way. It belongs to the drawing of the bag rather than to any label, and it is what separates this model from the plain canvas shapes among our tote bags in linen, jute and printed nylon.
