Nothing runs around these lenses. The glass is cut straight to the heart shape and its edge carries a small repeated wave from top to point. Colour sits heaviest at the top and thins out lower down, from deep brown to a washed pink. The bridge, the hinges and the arms all share one gold tone; only the tips are black.
The two lenses repeat one heart outline exactly: two rounded lobes at the brow, a clean point below. Nothing crosses the top of the glass, so the outline runs free from one lobe to the other. A gold-toned bridge, three straight segments rather than a curve, spans the gap between the two hearts, and a small screw on either side of each lens does the holding. Before settling on a tint it is worth running through the other pairs stocked in the sunglasses aisle.
The brown is at its darkest along the upper edge, where the two lobes rise. From there it loosens, and by mid-lens it has already turned pink. At the point it is barely present, pale enough to look through without effort. Both lenses break at the same height, so on the face the dark band lines up across the brow while the clear part falls over the cheekbone. The tint is never even, and that is what makes it work: the colour follows the shape instead of flooding it.
| The lenses | Cut to a heart, point down, edge left bare and waved. |
|---|---|
| The bridge | A gold-toned span with straight angles, the only link between the two. |
| The nose pads | Colourless plastic, carried on a pair of short inward-bent stems. |
Worn with the hair off the face, the warm brown at the brow works with camel, cream and rust, and the pink keeps it from turning severe. It sits happily beside the scarves that share this accessories floor.
