Heart-shaped sunglasses with plain pink lenses

The pink runs from the dip at the top of each lens down to the point, with nothing to interrupt it: no darker band, no fading towards the rim. A slim gold-toned wire follows the whole outline, and a straight rod crosses the upper part of each lens between the hinge and the bridge. The two hearts stop short of one another, so an open gap is left in the middle. Both are cut to the same size, and neither is deeper in colour than the other. Where the gold stops and the black begins

Follow one arm back from the hinge and it stays a plain rod of the same gauge the whole way, until the final stretch turns black. That black section is long: it takes in the part that curves down behind the ear and a fair length before it, and it is the only dark thing on the pair. From behind, the two tips read as a pair of black strokes against the gold. Seen edge on, each one bends gently downwards rather than hooking sharply, and it keeps that shape all the way to the end. Fold the arms in and they cross above the bridge, which is why those tips can be seen through the lenses when the pair is closed. Nothing on the rim is patterned or engraved.

The three parts that are not gold

Turn the pair sideways and the front proves to be one flat plane: the lenses do not wrap, and the two arms set off straight towards the back without any splay. It is a shape you notice before you notice the colour, which makes it easy to wear at a festival, on a café terrace or on a bright walk through town. Keep it with the pieces you add once you are dressed.
