Round tortoiseshell-pattern sunglasses: where acetate meets metal

Most of the character sits in that join. The front is a thick acetate rim, substantial enough to hold a proper circle, and it stops abruptly at a small round screw. From there the temple takes over in flat gold-toned metal, so slim that it almost disappears when you look straight on. Seen from the side the two materials line up again, because the tip goes back to the same mottled pattern as the rim.

That pattern is only on the outside. The inner rim is plain caramel with no flecks at all, and the lenses take no part in it either: they hold a single brown tone right across. Apart from the two screws, nothing on the front catches the light.

Front width matters more here than the shape itself. The rim is broad at the sides, yet the circle stays modest, so it covers less of the face than a squared front of the same width would. A print that mixes tan with something colder, grey or ink or forest green, stops the amber from flattening out, and something printed to sit at the collar is the quickest way to test it.
